We were all buzzing over this moment on Thursday’s EastEnders

Great stuff

Anna O'Rourke

Finally, a bit of luck for the Carters.

It wasn’t looking good, but Thursday was the night that we finally found out the fate of the Queen Vic and thanks be to Jesus it was good news.

It all came down to the kindness of Halfway, who generously handed over his diamond ring to help keep the business going.

It had been valued at £20,000 but a second opinion from a jeweller put the ring at £200,000, meaning the Vic was saved.

It was all a little convenient but made for great telly when Mick had the pleasure of announcing to everyone in the pub that it would remain open.

The place erupted and, oddly, broke out into a conga line, much to the amusement of all of us watching at home.

If nothing else, it was great to see Mick crack a smile.
