The intro to the Circle of Life in the Lion King has a hidden meaning

Rebecca O'Keeffe

The best film ever made…

As a kid, most of us will have watched the Lion King a fair few times.

It’s emotional, really. From Mufasa getting shanked by Scar, through to Simba winning back the throne, it’s really got its highs and its lows.

But before all that, there’s a moment that really sets the whole thing up. You know the bit at the very start of the film…

“NAAAAAAAAH SVENYAAAAA MAMBEATSEBABAAAH”

Or something along those lines.

Well, if you’ve ever wondered what in the blue hell that song means and a post on Tumblr has provided the answer.

So here’s what it means:

“Nants ingonyama bagithi baba” = “There comes a lion”

“Sithi uhhmm ingonyama” – “Oh yes, it’s a lion”

Truthfully, a lot less exciting in English.
