She was in a residential building, not a military target as Putin has claimed

Amid the continued shelling of Ukraine, a Ukrainian actress has been killed after a Russian rocket collided with a residential building in the nation’s capital.

Oksana Shvets, 67, was killed in Kyiv as Russian missiles continued to batter the city. The Young Theatre announced the news via Facebook, a Ukrainian theatre company Shvets regularly worked with.

Alongside an image of Shvets, the theatre company posted: “Bright memory to the talented actress! There is no forgiveness for the enemy that has come to our land!

Shvets was arguably one of Ukraine’s most accomplished actors and had also worked with Ternopil Music and Drama Theatre and the Kyiv Theatre of Satire.

Last week, The Hobbit actor Pasha Lee was killed after giving his bulletproof jacket to a child. The news was broken by Odessa International Film Festival via Facebook which said Lee was killed on March 6 in Irpin.

According to the head of Ukraine’s Center for Civil Liberties, Oleksandra Matviichuk, the 34-year-old actor, died after giving away his bulletproof vest.

Taking to Twitter, the official wrote: “We found the body of our Pasha Lee. He helped the children get out of the house during the evacuation of people from Irpen. The evacuation that Russians disrupted by shelling civilians. Pasha took off his bulletproof vest and put it on the child he was carrying.”

It’s not immediately clear whether that child made it to safety.

Lee also starred in a number of Ukrainian films, including Meeting Of Classmates (2019), Selfie Party (2016) and Zvychayna Sprava (2012),
