Tom Hardy’s Venom film has added a very cool character to its lineup

Paul Moore

Like we weren’t excited enough already.

After the first image of Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock was released, fans have been itching to see the trailer for Venom.

As for the plot, the film will be inspired by two classic miniseries, Lethal Protector and  Planet of the Symbiotes.

In the Lethal Protector arc, the story kicks-off with a truce between Eddie Brock and Spider-Man as Hardy’s character moves to San Francisco. There, he began a career as an antihero rather than a villain.

Needless to say, trouble follows hot on Brock’s heels, as the miniseries saw Venom being hunted down by the sinister Life Foundation. The mysterious organisation wants to harness the power of Brock’s symbiote and create five new deadly spawns – Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Agony.

As for the arc in Planet of the Symbiotes, that plotline sees Earth being invaded by an army of symbiotes with Venom teaming up with Spider-Man and Scarlet Spider to stop them.

Ok, spoiler alert if you want to remain blissfully ignorant of all things Venom.

Given the fact that both comic-books that the Venom film will be based on both feature Spider-Man, it’s not exactly a shock to expect an appearance from everyone’s favourite wall-crawler in Ruben Fleischer’s film.

Well,  Collider‘s Jon Schnepp has revealed that Venom won’t exactly be going mano-a-mano with Spider-Man but Peter Parker will be making a cameo. Again, given the arcs in the comic books, that’s not exactly a surprise but the producers have previously denied Holland’s involvement.

Schnepp said: “Tom Holland was on set filming scenes on Venom for at least two days as Peter Parker. Okay, so I’m not saying Spider-Man is in the film. When I say Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is in the film, I’m saying Peter Parker is in the film”

Filming on Venom is already underway with Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott, and Scott Haze all joining Hardy.

Venom hits theaters on October 5, 2018. We can’t wait!
