Tom Hardy is very happy to be James Bond in a Christopher Nolan directed film

The names Hardy, Tom Hardy.

Paul Moore

This would be amazing.

The history of cinema is filled with directors that love to frequently work with the same actors. For example; Scorsese and Di Caprio/De Niro, Hitchock and Stewart, Burton and Depp, Tarantino and Jackson, the Coen brothers with Buscemi, Goodman and Turturro.

One collaboration that’s set to be added to this list is Christopher Nolan and Tom Hardy because their upcoming WW2 epic Dunkirk will be the third time that they’ve collaborated together, and it might not be the last.

While Nolan has publicly spoken about his love of the Bond franchise, Hardy’s name frequently pops up as a potential 00 agent that could replace Daniel Craig, should he decide to walk away from the Bond series.

In an interview with The Daily Beast, the star of Bronson and Mad Max: Fury Road was more than happy to discuss the idea of working with Nolan on an upcoming Bond film. When asked about the prospect of teaming up with the Inception and Dark Knight Rises director on a Bond film, Hardy said: “Oh, wow, Chris would be amazing! Wow, that would be cool. That would be so cool”.

When pushed further, Hardy didn’t rule himself out of contention to pick up Craig’s Walter PPK. “You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one! If I mention it, it’s gone.

“But Chris Nolan, what a fantastic director for a Bond movie. Because Daniel [Craig] is so good, and what [Sam] Mendes and Barbara [Broccoli] have done has been so impressive, that it would be a very hard reimagination to follow after. I wonder what the next instalment of that franchise would become, and I think when you mention someone like Christopher Nolan, that’s a very powerful figure to bring into that world who could bring something new and create something profound—again.”

Fans of the actor will also be pleased to know that he’s not yet finished with the Mad Max franchise also.

“George Miller is a genius! The wheels were rolling from the beginning of Fury Road for three films, so I would assume it’s just crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s. There are other Mad Max vehicles and Furiosa vehicles that are out there—as far as the characters’ mythologies and stories—so it’s a little bit… I’m waiting for the call to get back in the leathers and get cracking on that. I really loved doing it and can’t wait for another outing. I’m hungry to go back out and do some more”, he said.

Peaky Blinders, Bond, Batman, Mad Max and a rumoured appearance in Star Wars: Episode XIII, Tom Hardy is the gift that keeps on giving.
