Tom Hanks has taken some great gambles in his long career – and it seems he is still making the smart plays.
The movie star is in Europe this week as he plugs one of his latest releases, A Hologram For The King, and he revealed that he made a canny bet that should pay big dividends. He said:
“You know what I did at the start of the season? Put £100 on Leicester City.
“I think I’ll do okay.”
Pushed on the exact details, Hanks changed the subject by telling reporters to track down a local Leicester fan that put £25 on the Foxes and who could soon be a millionaire.
Given the fact that even the most generous of bookies was offering 5,000-1 on Leicester winning the Premier League, £25 will make you rich, but not filthily so.
£100 on the other hand? If Hanks did lump it on, he stands to win £500,000.
Another bloody Leicester fan just cashed out but he did it for a ridiculous amount of money https://t.co/sv70UjbYeK

Even were a bookie to convince Hanks to cash-out – and one suspects he is flush for money – the Toy Story star would still pocket north of £400k.
Maybe enough to fund script development for Turner and Hooch 2.
