There’s a petition to reshoot The Last Jedi and replace Luke Skywalker with a dog that solves mysteries

Sure. That makes sense

The latest Star Wars has proven to be more controversial than perhaps anyone was expecting.

Without wishing to spoil it, The Last Jedi answers some questions and poses some new ones that not everyone is thrilled with. In fact, the movie has wound up a vocal proportion of the Star Wars fanbase, who feel that Rian Johnson’s movie didn’t deliver what they wanted.

But for one person, Disney failed to deliver in a major way. A major and incredibly specific way. A major and incredibly specific and terribly odd way.

Twitter user @pixelatedboat launched a petition to get Disney to remake The Last Jedi but “replace Luke Skywalker with a dog that solves mysteries”. A simple request, no?

The petition explains further: “The Last Jedi has Luke Skywalker in it. Instead it should be about a dog named “Rex Ruff” that solves mysteries.”

Well, we say it explains further – that’s all the explanation it gets.

It’s obviously a gentle dig at some of the whinier Star Wars fans who didn’t like the new movie, but the petition has got some legs: over 1,100 people have signed so far. Disney will have to pay attention to this!

The petition is capturing the imagination of the people, as demonstrated by the comments of some of the signees. “It’s important to me that the force that pervades the universe is also the smell of dog treats that inspires a dog detective to find out who’s a bad boy,” wrote Luv Mehta.

“Luke needs to be a dog, otherwise the star wars extended universe makes no sense,” agreed Michael Langberg, and as Lucas Tompkins stoically put it: “There has literally never, in the history of this country, been a more important cause to support.”

So if you feel strongly about Disney reshooting The Last Jedi but replacing Luke Skywalker with a dog that solves mysteries, get on board! Sign the petition.
