The Wrecking Crew, a new 'Lethal Weapon-style' action comedy movie starring Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa, has gotten an exciting update from one of its co-stars.
The film was spurred into existence back in 2021 by Bautista, who tweeted at the time: "Just going to throw this out into the atmosphere and see what happens.
"Here we go… Me and Momoa in a Lethal Weapon-type buddy cop movie... Ok! There it is. Now we wait."
A few days later, Momoa confirmed his interest in the project and then in 2023, it was reported that the action comedy was moving forward under the title The Wrecking Crew and that Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto was attached to helm the movie.
The film has since been shot, with Jacob Batalon (the MCU Spider-Man trilogy) joining the cast.
And when JOE spoke to Batalon about his new action flick Novocaine, we had to ask about The Wrecking Crew and how crazy the action scenes will be, given Bautista and Momoa's involvement.
In response, here's what he said:
"It's a lot of crazy, ridiculous action scenes for sure. It's basically just about Hawaii and [Bautista and Momoa are] basically trying to figure out who murdered their father.
"I help them through that stuff. Yeah, it's great"
Batalon added, however: "I think that Novocaine is definitely way crazier in terms of just the amount of pain and suffering that the main character goes through."
Novocaine stars Jack Quaid as a mild-mannered man named Nathan living with a real-life condition known as CIPA, which means he is unable to feel physical pain.
However, when his bank is robbed and the woman he loves (Amber Midthunder) is kidnapped by a group of vicious criminals (led by Ray Nicholson), Nathan decides to pursue the gang of murderous thieves and turn his unique condition into an advantage.
Helping Nathan in his quest is his only friend, Roscoe (Batalon), a gamer whom he has actually never met in person.
Batalon's part in Novocaine is a fun inversion of the actor's best friend role as Ned in the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies.
This is as Roscoe is actually very reluctant to help his pal Nathan in Novocaine, particularly compared to Ned in Spider-Man who always wants to assist Peter Parker.
On his part in Novocaine, Batalon told JOE, laughingly: "It was written really well so I didn't have to act too hard. I think it was very much explained that he definitely did not want to do this.
"Everyone's been saying that he's a great friend and everything and I'm like: 'Is he though?'
"I feel like he just genuinely was roped into it."
