The new trailer for Jessica Jones absolutely nails what the first season did so well

Paul Moore

Fans of the show will be very happy. It’s on Netflix soon.

After her adventures in The Defenders, we’re delighted to say that Jessica Jones is coming back to do what she does best, drinking and kicking-ass.

New York City’s tough-as-nails private investigator returns to Netflix for a second season on March 8 and the new series seems to be playing it very clever. After all, why fix something that’s not broken?

Aside from a superb performance by Krysten Ritter in the lead role, the first season of Jessica Jones wasn’t afraid to discuss issues like rape, PTSD, drug addiction and mental health. It also helped that the plot was gripping, the violence was unusually gory and David Tennant helped to create one of the best villains in the Marvel universe.

In Season 2, we’re told that the antihero will be investigating a case that’s more personal than ever before. Fueled by a myriad of questions and lies, Jessica will do whatever it takes to uncover the truth.

After seeing the latest trailer, it’s clear that the creators aren’t breaking with a winning formula – Season One has a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and won an Emmy.

Ok, so what’s in store?

Ambiguity after a traumatic event? Check. The mystery surrounding a litany of gory and gruesome deaths? Double-check.  Even more wise-ass and hilarious one-liners from the hard-drinking P.I. Triple-check. Shadowy experiments, dodgy characters, and sinister organisations? We’ve got more checks than a game of chequers – is that even a phrase?

Anyway, we loved the withering look she gave to that kid who asked her about Captain America as the MCU draws a little bit closer.

Keep watching until the end though because there’s a tantalising look at what’s in store.

We know what we’ll be watching on March 8th.
