The film hails from an Oscar nominee.
Our TV movie pick for tonight (Wednesday, 22 January) is The Innocents, the 2021 thriller from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Eskil Vogt (co-writer of The Worst Person in the World).
A Norwegian film, the story revolves around four children who become friends during the summer holidays and discover, out of the sight of adults, that they have hidden powers.
“While exploring their newfound abilities in the nearby forests and playgrounds, their innocent play takes a dark turn and strange things begin to happen,” the plot synopsis reads.
Released in UK and Irish cinemas in 2022, The Innocents earned rave reviews upon release.
In particular, critics praised its impressive child actors, its dark atmosphere and its blend of supernatural horror and coming-of-age drama.
The Innocents is airing on TV tonight/tomorrow morning on Channel 4 at 1.50am.
Given its late airing time, we’d suggest recording it or watching the thriller later on Channel 4’s website.
