The holiday sequel in the works

17 years after The Holiday was released, a sequel is said to be in the works

A sequel to The Holiday is apparently in the works – and Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and the rest of the original cast have reportedly already signed up for the project.

The festive classic, released in 2006, stars Diaz and Winslet alongside Jack Black and Jude Law, and the feel good rom-com has become a must-watch for many every December.

The Holiday sees two women swap homes during the festive period – with Iris staying in Amanda’s fancy Los Angeles pad while Amanda retreats to Iris’ country escape.

Both are looking for a change of pace to their lives after suffering bad breakups, but end up finding themselves falling in love in each other’s worlds – with Amanda falling for Iris’ brother Graham and Iris finding love with Amanda’s colleague, Miles.

But fans are still wondering what became of Amanda (Cameron) and Graham (Jude) and Iris (Kate) and Miles (Jack) all these years later.

Well, they may not need to wonder for much longer. According to an insider, the original cast of the film are going to reunite for a sequel next year.

The source said that Cameron, 50, Kate, 47, Jude, 49, and Jack, 53, have all reportedly signed up to start filming the hit film’s predecessor in 2023.

They told the Sun: “The plan is to start rolling on scenes next year, primarily in the U.K. and in Europe, but the main talent are all signed up and on board.

“It’s one of the most successful movies of its kind and still enjoyed every year by millions of fans around the world – it makes perfect sense to revisit those characters and find out what became of their lives after they hooked up.

“It’ll be funny, poignant, and heartwarming – just what everyone wants for Christmas.”

The original cost £70 million to make but went on to be a huge success at the box office, making over £200 million.
