Netflix has just added the very fun, Denzel Washington-starring action movie The Equalizer 3 to its service.
The vigilante franchise is noteworthy as it features the only sequels in which the two-time Oscar winner has ever appeared.
Based on the 1980s TV series of the same name, Washington has starred in three Equalizer films to date, starting with 2014's The Equalizer.
In the movies, he plays Robert McCall - a man trying to put his shadowy, violent past behind him and live in peace.
Witnessing various injustices and wrongs, however, he finds himself compelled throughout the trilogy to protect those who need help, putting himself in great danger in the process.
Released in 2023, The Equalizer 3 sees McCall facing off against gangsters in southern Italy. The film also reunited Washington with his Man on Fire co-star Dakota Fanning, who plays a CIA officer who becomes embroiled in the vigilante's war against the Camorra.
Widely publicised as "the final chapter" in the saga, The Equalizer 3 was such a hit at the box office and with critics that Washington later rolled this back in an interview.
Speaking to Esquire, he said: "I told them I would do another Equalizer, and we’re doing four and five. More people are happy about that—people love those daggone Equalizers."
As for the reasons why he wants to make more, Washington added: "I’ve come to realise that the Equalizer films are for me, too, because they’re for the people.
"They want me to go get the bad guys. 'We can’t get them, so you go get them.' And I say: 'Okay, I’ll get them! Just wait right there. I’ll be right back!'
The Equalizer 3 is streaming on Netflix now in the UK, Ireland and the US.
