Friends star Matthew Perry once spoke about he wanted to be remembered before he died.

Perry, best known for his role as Chandler on hit US sitcom Friends, died of an apparent drowning at his home.

He was 54 years old.

A call was received by police in Los Angeles, at 4.07pm local time (12.07am UK time).

The incident at the actor’s home in the Pacific Palisades in LA was treated as a ‘water rescue,’ Sky News reports.

There was no apparent foul play and no confirmed cause of death. An investigation is ongoing.

As tributes continue to pour in, an old video has resurfaced of Perry speaking about how he wanted to be remembered.

Speaking at the press tour for his book: Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir, which hit shelves last year, he said: “I would like to be remembered as somebody who lived well, loved well, was a seeker and his paramount thing is that he wants to help people.

“That’s what I want.”

Tributes have poured in from around the globe from fans and former colleagues of the much-loved actor.
