Sons of Anarchy spin-off confirms official plot details and adds to its cast

Paul Moore

Sons of Anarchy fans will definitely be watching this.

After Mayans MC, the spinoff to Sons of Anarchy was announced a few months ago, we’ve been treated to various snippets of information and casting announcements. On that note, the official website for the new show has been launched and the producers have also added a new actor to the cast.

We’re told that Mayans MC will premiere in 2018 and that the story will focus on SAMCRO’s rival motorcycle group and follow a young club prospect named EZ Reyes, played by JD Pardo.

Here’s the official synopsis: “Mayans MC is set in a post-Jax Teller world, where EZ Reyes (JD Pardo), fresh out of prison, is a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the Cali/Mexico border. Now EZ must carve out his new outlaw identity in a town where he once was the golden boy who had the American Dream within his grasp.”

Edward James Olmos, Sarah Bolger, Clayton Cardenas, Richard Cabral, Michael Irby, Raoul Trujillo, Antonio Jaramillo and Carla Baratta also star in the spinoff.

Gino Vento (The Deuce, Bloodline) has also been cast in a recurring role. Deadline are reporting that Vento will play Nester, the fiercely loyal, childhood friend of Miguel Galindo (Danny Pino), who is now his cold-eyed head security willing to do anything to enforce the family’s rule.

With news that Kurt Sutter also has plans to create two more shows that are based around Jax’s family, it appears that Sons of Anarchy is going nowhere.

As of yet, there’s no official announcement about when the 10-episode series will premiere, but these recent images have offered us an interesting look inside the riders’ clubhouse and the club president, played by Michael Irby.

Kurt Sutter has also been sharing a few new images on his own Instagram.
