Snoop Dogg has been spotted everywhere during these Olympics – holding the Olympic torch, cheering on Simone Biles in the gymnastics and even getting to know the Olympic horses taking part in the equestrian events.
The 52-year-old rapper has been stealing the show at several events as he assumes the role of USA’s biggest fan and though many people would pay to be in his position, Snoop Dogg is reportedly being paid a staggering amount to be there.
Broadcasting giant NBC has hired Snoop Dogg as a special correspondent for the duration of the games.
The job came after he hosted a hilarious highlights show alongside Kevin Hart in 2021 where they commented on stars competing at the delayed 2020 games, as well as the infamous ‘crip-walking’ horse.
Viewers across America can’t get enough of his reactions to the Team USA athletes as they compete in their various sports.
He was also spotted strutting out in full equestrian gear for the team dressage event prompting fans to rename him Snoop Horse.
Many Americans have praised his work across the games so far with some calling for him to be awarded his own gold medal for his coverage.
In lieu of a medal, the father-of-four, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, is reportedly receiving a whopping $500k a day plus expenses to be in Paris promoting the Olympics.
The staggering amount was revealed on X by venture capitalist, Henry McNamara who claimed he overheard a conversation discussing the handsome fee over dinner.
He said: “Sat next to an NBC exec at dinner. He said Snoop gets paid $500k a day plus expenses to be here promoting Olympics. From Gin and Juice to a few million to be a celebrity at the Olympics – what a world.”
That would mean Snoop would walk away with $8 million for his 16 days of work in Paris.
Fans flocked to social media to defend the fee though saying the rapper deserved it for his work.
One user said: “Worth it! Snoop Dogg is rocking the @Olympics.”
While another said: “Totally worth it – he’s working hard and bringing so much attention to the broadcast/socials.”
NBC’s executive producer, Molly Solomon, said: “We’ve been pleasantly surprised by his popularity, but you never ever underestimate Snoop Dogg.”
