Snakehips unveil first of three bizarre mini movies for Stay Home Tapes EP

Will Lavin

Talk about a bizarre ride.

Snakehips have announced that their new Stay Home Tapes EP will arrive April 6th and fans of their more old school sounding Hip Hop offerings will be deeply satisfied, according to the duo themselves.

Kicking off the promotion for the EP, the pair offload new single “Cruzin'”. Laced with nostalgic synths, it plays like a slice of Cali funk that sounds like something Drake might have hopped on during his Take Care phase.

Accompanied by the first of three mini movies that tell the story of Sue, a middle aged woman who embarks on a trippy joyride of L.A. with a friend, “Cruzin'” starts with a couple arguing publicly and ends with something unexpected involving a woman, her dog and a beat up old car.

The world is crazy and Snakehips go out of their way to show you this.

Featuring a range of vocalists across the EP, including Jeremih & Aminé (“For The F^_^k Of It”), Knox Brown and Chaz French (“Deja Vu”), Elbee Thrie (“iii’m Not Sorry”) and Jay Prince (“ERA”), the Stay Home Tapes EP embodies the duo’s earlier sounds and style.

If you’re unfamiliar with Snakehips where the hell have you been!? For an example of what they’re capable of perhaps try their “Money On Me” collaboration with Anderson .Paak or their work on the euphoric and soulfully mind-blowing Sinead Harnett track “No Other Way”.

The full EP is set for release on April 6th.
