Ok, here are some outstanding quotes to describe the original Oasis lineup.

“He’s the angriest man you’ll ever meet. He’s like a man with a fork, in a world of soup” – Noel on Liam.

“He loved cricket and Doctor Who and weed and Man City, I’d say 5th after that was being in Oasis” – Noel on Guigsy

“I like Tony as a geezer but he wouldn’t have been able to drum the new songs.” – Noel on Tony McCarroll.

“I’ve been in a band with Bonehead and it’s pretty fucking dangerous.” Noel on Bonehead.

“What can I say, I am a bit of a cunt” – Noel on Noel.

Five lads from Manchester that took over the world and changed the shape of music and despite the fact that a reunion is on-again, off-again, on-again, off-again, there’s no denying the stellar legacy and tunes that the Gallagher brothers have left behind.

We’ve previously written in-depth about the brilliant documentary Supersonic before and its clear that audiences adore it but Sky Arts are dedicating a whole night to the superb band on August 11.

The evening starts with Dick Carruthers’ documentary Oasis: There We Were, Now Here We Are, which charts the rise of the band from their early days in Manchester to spearheading the Britpop revolution, featuring journalists, friends, fans and fellow musicians including Burt Bacharach, Creation Records managing director Tim Abbott and the Gallagher brothers themselves.

Immediately after, Oasis: Live by the Sea presents the band’s standout concert at Southend Cliffs Pavilion on 17 April 1995, where they rocked the sellout crowd with the indie hits that defined the 90s, from Rock ’n’ Roll Star and Some Might Say to Live Forever and Supersonic.

Mad for it.

Saturday 11 August 21.00 Sky Arts & NOW TV.
