Season 8 of Game of Thrones could be longer than initially thought

An exciting prospect.

More episodes of Game of Thrones is welcome with us…

Game of Thrones is coming into the home stretch with just two seasons to go of the hugely popular HBO series.

The 6th season ended with a bang in the thrilling spectacle that was The Winds of Winter, and who can forget that flash of emerald in Lancel Lannister’s eyes?

Season 7 is on the way later this year and it’s been confirmed that the season will also have seven episodes, three less than every other season so far.

It was expected that Season 8 of the series would contain just six episodes, but that may no longer be the case according to an interview with HBO’s programming president Casey Bloys in Entertainment Weekly.

“They’re still figuring out the shape of the season, what they want to do,” Bloys told EW. “I’ll take as many as they want to do. If they give me eight, I’ll want 10. But it’s really up to them. They’ll let me know.”

He went on to confirm that talks are being held over the possibility of a prequel series: “We’ll take some shots at it. I’m not going to do it just to do it. It has to feel very special. I would rather have no sequel and leave it as is then have something we rushed out.”

All we know is, we want to see it on our screens again… mistakes and all.
