Seann William Scott made just £6,000 for his part in American Pie

Despite the coming-of-age sex comedy being a box-office hit, spawning three direct sequels, (American Pie 2, American Wedding and American Reunion and a number of spin-offs),  Seann William Scott banked just $8,000 (£6,116) for the part.

The movie was made in 1999 for just $11 million, but made $235m at the global box office.

Speaking to Rick Eisen about how the Stifmeister got short-changed, the 47-year-old, who did just six days on set, said he actually thought, at the time, that his take home pay was pretty good.

Asked if it was true that he received just a few thousand for the film, Scott said: "That was a lot of money at the time for me. Ch-ching! "Yeah, because afterwards, I bought a used Thunderbird for like $5,000, or maybe $6k. I'm like, 'Oh yeah, baby'.

"I don't know what happened to the other $2k, because then I ended up having to work at the LA Zoo as a churros guy. So maybe it was even less than $8k."

When pressed on the small sum, Scott added: "It was before it came out. So I shot the movie, we're waiting for it to come out, I got the Thunderbird, maybe I spent all of it on the Thunderbird, maybe it was like the entire $8k or $7k, and then I had this other other job and then I worked at the LA Zoo, waiting for the movie to come out."

Thankfully for Scott, the flick was such a hit that he was called back again and this time the cheques contained a few more zeros.

The sequels earned Scott $5m.

In 2022, it was revealed that another American Pie sequel was in the works.

The Hollywood Reporter claims the new film will be written by Insecure actor and Definition Please filmmaker Sujata Day, based on an "original pitch".

Plot details have not been revealed, but according to reports it is expected to be a "fresh take" on the famed franchise.

The outlet reported: "The multihyphenate is set to develop and write a new instalment of the long-running sex comedy franchise for Universal 1440 Entertainment, a production arm of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group."
