Our TV movie pick for tonight (Wednesday, 23 October) is Prospect, a hugely underseen 2018 sci-fi gem starring Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us).
Set in the future, the film centres around a teenage girl named Cee (Sophie Thatcher, The Boogeyman) who travels with her father (Jay Duplass, Industry) to a remote alien moon, to mine for gems in its forests.
The dad and the daughter quickly find themselves in peril, however, when they come across a pair of bandits (one of whom is played by Pascal).
Against all odds, an unlikely alliance winds up being formed.
Earning an 89% Rotten Tomatoes score, Prospect was praised for its incredible visuals - all the more impressive given the film cost less than $4 million to make - as well as its performances, its detailed world-building and its stripped-back Western-like story.
The movie is airing on TV tonight/tomorrow morning on the channel Legend at 12.45 am and is also available to watch on Prime Video.
This cult musical action-comedy centres on a man just released from prison (John Belushi) who puts together his old band to save the Catholic home where he and his brother (Dan Aykroyd) were raised.
Call Jane - Film4 - 9pm
Elizabeth Banks stars in this well-reviewed 2022 drama as a suburban housewife in the 1960s who deals with a life-threatening pregnancy.
The Bad Education Movie - Comedy Central - 9pm
The movie spin-off of the Jack Whitehall sitcom.
Maximum Overdrive - Legend Xtra - 9pm
The only movie directed by horror author Stephen King, this critically panned film sees all machines become sentient and begin attacking humans.
Eye of the Tiger - Legend - 10.55pm
In this ’80s action flick, a Vietnam War veteran (Gary Busey) returns home from prison and sets out to clean up his hometown which has come under the control of a violent motorcycle gang.
Hellbound: Hellraiser II - Sky Sci-Fi - 11pm
Pinhead returns in this messy if not without merit sequel to the classic horror Hellraiser.
Office Uprising - Legend - 11pm
This 2018 horror comedy with a decent cast – Alan Ritchson, Brenton Thwaites, Jane Levy, Karan Soni, Zachary Levi – revolves around a worker at a weapons factory who discovers an energy drink is turning his co-workers into zombies.
Legends of the Fall - Film4 - 11.25pm
Anthony Hopkins, Brad Pitt and Aidan Quinn star in this epic Western drama about a family living in the wilderness and plains of Montana in the early 20th century.
