Praise the Lord, Jon Stewart is coming back to television

About time too

Carl Kinsella

Jon Stewart left his job as host of The Daily Show in August of 2015.

Since then, the world has gone to absolute balls. We’re not saying the two things are directly linked, but we suspect that there’s more than just a small correlation.

As host of The Daily Show, Stewart used comedy to lampoon the follies of those in power with supreme effect. More than a few commentators have noticed that his take on politics has been sorely missed in the last year – a year which has featured the unstoppable rise of Donald Trump and Britain exiting the EU.

Those pundits will be rejoicing at the news that Stewart is set to return not only to television, but to political coverage. Stewart will join his long-time collaborator Stephen Colbert on the latter’s The Late Show in order to cover the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio next week, where Donald Trump is to be officially named as the Republican candidate for president.

Stewart will stay on until the next week for the sake of covering the Democratic National Convention.

Needless to say, the world will be very glad to have him back.
