The positive reaction to Tommy Lee’s post has angered some
People have been comparing the reaction to Tommy Lee’s recent naked picture to that which Britney Spears gets when she posts nude images on social media.
The internet went into meltdown last week after Lee shared a picture of himself posing in a bathtub fully naked, and with his manhood on display.
Lee shared everything he had to offer with his 1.6 million followers, in the extremely NSFW picture, which he captioned: “Ooooopppsss.”
Some have now claimed the image and the reaction to it has highlighted the different ways that society treats men and women.
Many of the comments and replies to Lee’s post were joking and flirtatious, and the overall reaction to the picture has been a positive one. This is perhaps best demonstrated by the fact it took Instagram several hours to take the picture down.
It is still up on Lee’s Twitter account, as the platform has a much more relaxed policy towards nudity.
As one person tweeted: “Women’s accounts get banned on #Instagram for just showing nipples and yet #TommyLee can post a full frontal dick pic and not get into trouble. The double standards.”
“So Tommy Lee can post a picture of his penis on @instagram that’s still up three hours later but a picture of my curvy booty in a thong bikini gets taken down? Cool, cool,” another said.

Lee has since replaced the Instagram post with a painting of the photo, but it still leaves very little to the imagination. This remains on his Instagram account and has not been removed.
In particular, people have compared the reaction to the Mötley Crüe drummer’s post to the reaction Britney Spears gets on her posts.
The popstar often posts nude pictures to her Instagram in what she says is an effort to reclaim her body following the termination of her conservatorship.
But these pictures have usually been met with a negative backlash.
Several on Twitter have highlighted the hypocrisy and misogyny of this.
Why is it that Tommy Lee can show his 🍆 and people have no problem, but Britney Spears can’t show her body (privates covered btw) without hate? Make it make sense!

Some suggest that it is Spears’ status as a mum that makes it unsuitable for her to be posting such pictures. Her ex-husband Kevin Federline recently said that her posts affect their two teenage sons and that they find it “tough.”
But Lee is also a parent, to two sons.
So for many, the differing response to both celebrities’ nude posts demonstrates the double standards and hypocrisy in society’s attitudes towards men and women.
