People are rediscovering this ‘great’ Netflix show which went overlooked upon release

Definitely one for those who loved The Last of Us and The Walking Dead.

Well, one show on the platform that has recently been singled out for praise is The Rain, a Danish post-apocalyptic series.

The plot synopsis for the Netflix original reads:

"The eponymous rain in the Danish series The Rain references the virus carried by a bout of deadly rainfall that wiped out most of Scandinavia’s population.

"Six years later, two siblings emerge from their bunker and enter into a post-apocalyptic wasteland, joining a band of survivors as they set out to find safety. But even as they attempt to rediscover their humanity in the wake of tragedy, the ever-present threat of a resurgence of the virus lurks every time a cloud passes over their heads."

The Rain ran for 20 episodes over three seasons between 2018 and 2020.

Despite receiving pretty positive reviews - its first season garnered an 82% Rotten Tomatoes score - it did not become as big a sensation as some of Netflix's other international shows like Dark, Money Heist or Squid Game.

That said, the series appears to be attracting new fans five years after it premiered - perhaps as we move into a rainier part of the year.

People are rediscovering this 'great' Netflix show - The Rain

A recent post on the popular Facebook group Netflix Bangers reads: "Raining here for the last two days so I decided to watch The Rain. I'm on episode 4 and quite enjoying it."

Attracting hundreds of likes, many were quick to comment on the post and voice their love for the show, with one user writing: "Great series. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this show."
