There’s going to be a change behind the camera though as James Wan is stepping aside and letting some fresh blood take over.
Michael Chaves (The Curse of La Llorona) will direct the new film but Wan will be closely involved with The Conjuring 3 because he’s going to produce the supernatural horror.
“While working closely with Chaves on The Curse of La Llorona, I got to know him as a filmmaker. Chaves’ ability to bring emotion to a story, and his understanding of mood and scares, make him a perfect fit to direct the next Conjuring film. I’m excited to be back as producer and continue with Vera and Patrick on the next supernatural adventure of the Warrens,” said Wan in a statement.
David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2 and Aquaman) will be writing the script for The Conjuring 3, which will once again focus on husband-and-wife paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Made for just $20 million, The Conjuring made almost $320 million worldwide and spawned a sequel and plethora of spin-offs like Annabelle, The Nun and the upcoming Crooked Man feature.
Oh yeah, it also gave people an endless amount of nightmares!
