"We are honoured to be bringing back the maddest show of all time."
That's right folks. Takeshi's Castle is coming back, again.
This time, the ridiculous palaver of a game show, is being hosted by comedians Romesh Ranganathan and Tom Davis, who will be providing commentary for the Prime Video reboot.
The show is coming back with a fresh new batch of contestants all ready to be walloped and whacked and splashed into the drink. However, one thing remains certain. All of those fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to be granted a place on the show remain hopeful that they can go home with the elusive main prize made up of One Million Yen (or the much less flattering sounding, £5,500 quid).
According to Digital Spy, Romesh and Tom will provide viewers with a "uniquely British perspective" on the Japanese show, "guiding them through this hilarious, dramatic, and, at times, utterly baffling world" with their "infectious enthusiasm and world-weary cynicism."
They continued: "Nothing is more magical than a reboot of a successful show from yesteryear, heavy though is the pressure in bringing back the wonder that is Takeshi’s Castle," Romesh and Tom said in a joint statement.
"We are honoured to be bringing back the maddest show of all time to a whole new generation; hopefully they can take away the life lessons we learnt from the original."
Takeshi’s Castle launches on August 30 exclusively to Prime Video members in the UK and Ireland.
