Netflix’s new documentary series on porn looks very interesting

Paul Moore

Another documentary to binge watch.

Given the vast amount of documentaries that are available to watch on Netflix, it’s very likely that you may have missed some very interesting titles.

In Hot Girls Wanted, Rashida Jones (star of Parks and Recreation, The Social Network, I Love You, Man) was one of the main creative forces behind the documentary which told the story of young women who have been drawn into the sex trade – and how easy it is for a web-savvy generation to end up making porn.

The film currently has an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and in their review, Variety stated that it’s “an intimate and ultimately harrowing peek inside the world of amateur porn, “Hot Girls Wanted” will shock and outrage audiences in equal measure”.

If you saw the documentary and enjoyed it, you’ll be pleased to know that Jones will be returning to this area in Hot Girls Wanted: Turned On, which is a six-part anthology series.

This unflinchingly honest series tells real life stories of those people whose lives are affected by the explosion of the Internet where social media, pornography and virtual relationships are all just a click away.

We’re told that “the series explores the intersection of sex and technology telling stories of intimacy, connection, disconnection, self-promotion, race and gender politics. How is establishing sexual relationships through screens now rewiring us in fundamental ways?”

Hot Girls Wanted: Turned On recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and it’s arriving on Netflix on April 21st. Here’s a look at what’s in store.
