According to Variety, Prince's estate are giving DuVernay access to "interviews, archival footage, photos and archive access."
The documentary will cover the influential musician's whole life, from his birth in Minneapolis, Minnesota, developing his interest and skills as a musician, going on to conquer the world, up to his death in 2016.
Before the Prince documentary, DuVernay has another project with Netflix coming, a series on The Central Park Five, concerning the wrongful conviction of five teenagers for the rape of a woman in New York.
