A perfect series to binge watch over the festive period.
Netflix have nailed the timing of the newest addition to their true crime drama catalogue.
The streaming site have quietly added a three-part programme based on a true story and starring the brilliant Luke Evans.
The Pembrokeshire Murders premiered on ITV in 2021 and covers the infamous Pembrokeshire murders by Welsh serial killer John Cooper.
In 2006, newly promoted Detective Superintendent Steve Wilkins (Evans) decided to reopen two unsolved 1980s murder cases linked with a string of burglaries.
The programme reveals how Wilkins and his team uncovered the evidence needed to convict Cooper of the double murder of siblings Richard and Helen Thomas.
Keith Allen plays killer John William Cooper, and the on-screen performances from both Evans and himself make this series a riveting watch all the way through.
In an interview with ITV’s Lorraine Kelly at the time of the programme’s release, Allen said that his performance “reflects that [killers] walk among us.”
He continued: “Anyone is potentially a murderer and you would never know it. It’s mind-blowing really.”
Perhaps the most interesting and mindblowing element of the story is how investigators used a popular 1980’s television show to help them hone in on the suspect.
We’ll let you watch for yourself to see how that unfolds.
