‘Netflix going to HELL’
No stranger to controversy, Netflix, have found themselves in Hot Water City once more.
This time, for a new dating show featuring people with Down syndrome.
The show, according to Netflix is about: “Six Kiwis with Down Syndrome [who] search for love and happiness while trying to navigate the complicated world of dating.”
While the topic is a sensitive one, it isn’t the show which is causing the controversy, but the title, with people taking to social media to voice their disgust with Netflix for picking the name and running with it.
One person wrote: “Bruh. Netflix going to hell.” Another commented: “You going to hell!” And many more suggested that the Netflix execs were indeed going to the underworld of fire and brimstone in one way or other.
Another commented: “What!!!!!” A fourth wrote: “This is wild.”
But just what is the title after all? Well, the show is called Down For Love.
One person went a bit further than suggesting Netflix’s suits would burn for eternity, writing: “The fact people lost their minds over Netflix letting comedians make jokes about trans people, but are totally cool with letting Netflix name a dating show about people with Down’s Syndrome “Down For Love” is wild to me.”
Another said: “I just turned on Netflix and this popped up and is WAY out of line. #DownForLove.”
And another tweeted: “HY IS THERE A SHOW ON NETFLIX ABOUT DOWN SYNDROME PEOPLE DATING AND ITS CALLED “ DOWN FOR LOVE”?!?!”
