Mr Gilbert from The Inbetweeners has given a very positive update on a reunion

The cast are definitely on board

Another step forward for The Inbetweeners reunion.

We all know that Mr Gilbert can can be one truly nasty f**ker but in real life, Greg Davies seems like he’s one incredibly charming man.

Anyone that heard that epic story about a curry, his dodgy stomach and a pair of knickers on The Graham Norton Show won’t forget it in a hurry but still, he’s shit scary! Come on, he played Gilbert!

We’re still not over that ominous line that me said to Simon about the fact that “there’s nothing funny about testicles, Cooper, as you’ll discover tomorrow in my office.”

Shivers.

Anyways, after James Buckley teased us all with this snap a few weeks ago, Mr Gilbert-himself has weighed in on the idea of an Inbetweeners reunion and it appears that the cast is very open to it.

Speaking at the BAFTA TV Awards red carpet, the actor said: “We’d all jump at a film, I’m sure. But I’m unaware at this moment there are any plans. We had a right old run at it.”

Davies also jokingly remarked that: “Those four boys are nearly 50 now. We’re the same age, they’ve caught up to my age. If they do decide to do something with it, it’ll be a very different format, I guess. But seriously, the affection that people I meet still have for that show is incredible. The enduring love for it is really exciting.”

The line about a different format is interesting because it ties into something that Joe Thomas (Simon) said in a previous interview.

Speaking about a potential reunion, Thomas said: ‘I think that we are definitely too old now to do anything that is set in a sixth form. If it’s the case that you want to do a show about some sixth formers then obviously we can’t be involved in that, with the best will in the world. But we could do the originals ten years down the line, married with kids,’ he added.

“I mean, we can do that now. I would jump at any chance to work with those guys again — in any context, really.”

Combining those two separate interviews, it appears that if The Inbetweeners was to return, the format would probably see them as proper grown-ups with families and jobs.

FYI, we’re still hoping that Neil married ‘Saucy Asda Karen’ and that he managed to land his dream job as a pilot airplane driver.
