The moment a very cocky Who Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant got the first question wrong

Alan Loughnane

Oh God…

It’s the chance of a lifetime. The chance to change your financial position for the better. The chance to give yourself some things you only ever dreamed of.

We’re taking about appearing on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

The UK version ended in 2014, and it was recently announced that Jeremy Clarkson will be hosting a seven-episode revival later this year, to celebrate its 20th anniversary. International versions of the show however have been on air across the world since 1998, and produced many memorable moments. But few more so than contestant Brenton Andreasik who appeared on the US adaptation.

The below clip aired a few years ago but the video has recently surfaced again on social media and has been shared widely.

Speaking during his intro to the show, Brenton said:

“I remember watching Who Wants To Be A Millionaire as a kid with Regis hosting the show and it was such a phenomenon. Ten million people watching a show about smart people every night. Celebrating being smart. And I thought, ‘You know what? Maybe it’s not so bad being smart. Maybe it’s not so bad being a nerd. Maybe it’s cool smart.’ And I followed that all the way and I just graduated medical school.”

But, it wasn’t to be for poor Brenton as he over thought on the very first question…
