Mischa Barton claims her publicist told her to sleep with Leonardo DiCaprio when she was 19 and he was 30

‘For the sake of your career, go and sleep with that man’

A Mischa Barton interview has resurfaced in which she alleges that her publicist told her to sleep with Leonardo DiCaprio to get ahead in the industry – despite being 11 years younger than him at the time.

Barton, who has had roles in Notting Hill and The Sixth Sense, has previously been in long-term relationships with oil heir Brandon Davis, musician Cisco Adler, and the Australian model, James Abercrombie.

But at the age of just 19 she was apparently advised by her publicist to go out with Leonardo DiCaprio, even though he was 30-year-old at the time.

DiCaprio’s love life has become the subject of much discussion online once again after the 48-year-old actor was recently spotted at an event with 19-year-old model Eden Polani.

On Twitter, one user shared comments Barton had made in a 2005 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, with the caption: “This aged well.”

The text appears to be a roundup of the interview Barton gave to Harper’s Bazaar, and reads: “Mischa, 19, has confessed when she and Craig [Schneider, her publicist], spotted the ‘Titanic’ star, who recently split from Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, at a photoshoot in Malibu, he turned to her and said: ‘For the sake of your career, go and sleep with that man.'”

The article goes on to say that Barton was “put off dating DiCaprio” because of him being 10 years older than her at the time.

DiCaprio split up with his long-term model girlfriend Camila Morrone last summer. Whilst on the surface this may not have appeared any more significant than other celebrity breakups, it managed to keep up a certain trend DiCaprio has – that he has never publicly dated a woman over the age of 25.

The couple had been together for four years, and fans were already growing concerned for the future of their relationship the day Morrone turned 25. Lo and behold, the couple broke up just months after her 25th birthday, prompting ridicule online.
