Michelle Keegan makes embarrassing football gaffe on live television

We're big fans of Michelle Keegan here at JOE Towers.

Not only did she excel as Tina McIntyre on Coronation Street between 2008 and 2014, but her star has only risen in the period since. She was brilliant on Lip Sync Battle with Jason Manford, and teamed up again with the Manchester comedian for popular comedy drama Ordinary Lives. Hilarious turns on both Plebs and Drunk History showcased her comedy chops, whilst she is currently earning rave reviews for a more serious role in the Beeb's Our Girl, in which she plays army medic Corporal Georgie Lane. That said, her rudimentary knowledge of football could do with some work. Appearing on BBC Breakfast to promote Our Girl, the topic of conversation turned to another part she is due to play - that of legendary England captain Bobby Moore's wife, Tina, in a new ITV drama based on the couple's relationship. Many refer to Bobby and Tina as the 'Posh and Becks' of their time. Perhaps caught a bit on the hop when asked about her forthcoming footballer's wife part, Keegan made something of a bizarre comment: "Back in the sixties people didn’t really know anything about football. Football was huge back in the sixties; not only did England win the World Cup in 1966, but Celtic won the European Cup in 1967, whilst Manchester United managed the same feat in 1968. Around 100,000 people attended each and every FA Cup Final of the decade too.
