Love Island 2021 winners Millie Court and Liam Reardon split after one year together

Another couple bites the dust- Love Island might need rebranding

Millie Court and Liam Reardon have split just a year after coupling up and dominating ITV’s Love Island.

The couple has decided to go their separate ways after a year-long romance, reports the Mail Online. The two have been living together in Essex but have called it quits after growing apart because of individual work opportunities.

Taking to Instagram to clear things up, Court wrote: “Hi everyone, to avoid any speculation Liam and I wanted to share with you that we have separated.

“It’s been a tough decision and I am gutted but it’s ultimately what is best for us right now.

“Thank you to every single one of you for supporting our relationship.

“Nothing will ever take away from the amazing experience we shared in Love Island and the past year and I wish Liam all the best in everything he does.”

In April, the couple was forced to squash rumours of their split after fans noticed they had not appeared on each other’s Instagram. The two had also been pictured in completely different countries, and 22-year-old Reardon did not attend his girlfriend’s shoe launch.

Rumours were also spurred by Reardon’s appearance on the Heat podcast, where he said: “I’ve been put into Essex, no family no friends. Obviously, I’m with Millie, which is good… I’d wake up, but have nothing to wake up for.”

That isn’t to say their time on the island was easy and breezy, as both went through the normal hurdles of the popular reality show. Reardon entered first, coupling up with Faye Winter before setting his sites on Court when she entered a few days later. The two coupled up another time, with the Welsh-man admitting his feelings and dubbing her “Millie Moo.”

Then came the infamous Casa Amor, which is often used to stir up trouble and has been the topic of much controversy in the past. Reardon shared a bed with new girl Lillie and was even pictured stealing a kiss while Court played the dutiful girlfriend back at the villa.

But don’t worry, what happens at Casa Amor stays at Casa Amor. That was until his actions were shared with the group.

Despite cheating and a somewhat awkward encounter with Lillie at the villa, Court and Reardon came back stronger than ever and went on to win the show.
