Donald Trump’s VP-elect got an earful after attending Broadway musical Hamilton

A powerful message.

The cast of Hamilton, the Broadway phenomenon, made the most of their chance to speak directly to Vice President-elect Mike Pence on Friday night.

Pence, Donald Trump’s running mate in the 2016 election, had attended the show in New York on Friday night.

And just after the curtain, as he tried to leave, he was addressed directly by cast member Brandon Dixon who plays Aaron Burr in the musical.

“You know we have a guest in the audience this evening,” he began. “Vice President Elect Pence, I see you’re walking out but I hope you will hear us for just a few more moments.”

After telling the crowd not to boo, but to record the event and share it widely on social media, he told Pence that he had a message for him.

“I hope that you will hear us out.”

“We are the diverse America, who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us,” he announced, to wide applause, before delivering a powerful message to both Pence and Donald Trump, who is about to become the most powerful man in the world.

Dixon’s comments have received plenty of reaction on social media, while many opponents of Trump and Pence’s comments both during and before the campaign have also defended the decision of audience members to boo the VP-elect.
