Knebworth will host a massive new festival that’s brimming with ’90s nostalgic tunes

Paul Moore

Fancy reliving some retro classics?

At the end of Supersonic, Noel Gallagher said something that’s eerily prophetic about Oasis’ iconic gigs at Knebworth. In Noel’s opinion, those gigs were the “last great gathering of the people before the birth of the Internet” and if you tend to agree with the guitarist and can remember gigs like that (I certainly can), then this new festival might be music to your ears.

For those that remember Brit-pop and the British music scene during the ’90s, Cool Britannia Festival might just tickle your fancy.

Ok, who’s on the billing? We’ve got Happy Mondays and Ocean Colour Scene as the headliners but there’s much more.

The Lightning Seeds (always loved The Life Of Riley being used on Match of the Day), Peter Hook & The Light, Cast, Embrace, M People‘s Heather Small, Dodgy, Space, Toploader, and The South have all been announced – with many more coming in the next few weeks.

It’s not just indie and pop on the billing though because The Ministry Of Sound also has their own stage.

If you fancy emulating the halcyon days of The Hacienda then you’ll be pleased to know that Todd Terry, Brandon Block, Jazzie B, Alfredo, Black Box, N-Trance (Set You Free!), Rozalla, Alison Limerick, Angie Brown and Urban Cookie Collective will be playing.

Tickets come in various different price categories – more about that here – but the cheapest one for the weekend is priced at £107.50

At present, here’s a look at what’s in store on August 31st – September 2nd.
