Depp purchased a ‘lot of quirky items’

Johnny Depp reportedly took a helicopter trip, just so he could peruse some guitars at a Lincolnshire antique store.

Hemswell Antique Centre in Hemswell Cliff has posted pictures of the Pirates of the Caribbean star on their Instagram page, tuning a guitar and posing in their guitar room.

According to reports, the Hollywood Vampires musician dropped in unannounced via helicopter, in an effort not to be noticed by the public, and so could browse in peace at the largest antique centre in Europe.

The actor’s surprise visit had been arranged by the store and the famous Pinewood Studios, who have a working relationship together for props and set items, LadBible reported.

Depp turned up at 4.30pm and was reportedly greeted by store owner Robert Miller who described him as “down-to-earth”.

The store’s staff had been notified that a special guest would be visiting, but they had no idea it was depp.

Miller said Depp tried out several different guitars during his visit and spoke about late English guitarist Jeff Beck, whom he had collaborated with for his album ’18’, which came out last year. Beck died in January.

Miller said Depp purchased “a lot of very quirky items” including a desk chair, three guitars, paint sets, easels, a few pictures and posters.

“He chose a vase with a skull on it. Guitars obviously. He was very friendly with, best friends with Jeff Beck, he sat and played a few tunes on this guitar I think just for old times’ sake really and then decided to buy three of the guitars that were there.”

Depp’s band formed in 2012 and consists of the actor, Joe Perry, Alice Cooper and Tommy Henriksen.

The group is touring Europe in June with their first gig at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre on 5 July.
