However, Corden haters will be disappointed to learn that - rather than an actual physical confrontation - the scene was part of a Grammys spin-off skit of the presenter's Carpool Karaoke (rebranded as Subway Car...pool Karaoke).
The 39-year-old comedian was joined for the segment by Sting and Shaggy - it truly must have been a proud moment to be joined by one the greatest singer-songwriters of all time and the former frontman of The Police.
In the video, the trio serenade New York commuters with well-known tear-jerker about love and loss, ‘It Wasn’t Me’, as well as lines from 'Every Breath You Take'.

Unfortunately for them, the performance doesn't go down too well.
One passenger tells Corden: "Nobody wants to hear you sing," whilst another just screams "NO!" at him repeatedly.
This all culminates in a stand-off with an angry construction worker.
The livid New Yorker shouts: “Hey, fellas! Knock it off! You’re annoying everyone on the train!”
But Corden hits back: “No we’re doing a carpool karaoke special in New York,” to which he receives the reply: “I don’t care, shut the f**k up!”
It then ends in tears when the two of them square up and the construction worker clocks the Brit in the face.
The camera then jump-cuts to the trio sitting on a train, Corden complete with a bloody nose.
Finally, Sting asks: "Whose stupid idea was this?"
Shaggy replies: "It wasn't me."Explore more on these topics:
