James Buckley, the actor who played Jay in hit sit-com The Inbetweeners, has apologised to fans of the show who felt let down by Tuesday night’s reunion show.

The four lead actors of the series, Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas, were reunited to mark the 10th anniversary of the show’s first airing on E4. The two-hour special was hosted by Jimmy Carr and featured interviews with the cast, an awards ceremony and a quiz about the show with super-fans.

Some viewers felt let down by the fact that this reunion was not a new episode, despite it being stated beforehand that it would not be a new episode, others felt disappointed by its general lack of humour.

Buckley clearly took a lot of the criticism to heart, and felt compelled to issue an apology on social media.

“Feeling pretty hated right now,” he said.

“Im sorry to anyone who feels let down with last nights show. Im especially upset as it really is the fans that made the inbetweeners a success, it certainly wasn’t me. I might do an explanation video on my YT, or might just leave it & move on #sorry.”
