The queen of Christmas has fully defrosted.
With just a mere three weeks until the big day, the queen of Christmas has fully defrosted.
Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ is truly one the of classics, and despite having debuted 30 years ago, the pop icon still makes mega money from the track.
Released in 1994, the hit peaked at number two on the UK charts and six in the US, however, it has since reached the top spot in over 30 countries.
Additionally, in the era of streaming, and seeing as Christmas happens every year, the song makes its way back into the charts each festive season.
According to The New York Post, it is estimated that the 55-year-old makes around $3 million (£2.4 million) every year from the song and as of 2021 had amounted over $60 million (£47 million) from the hit since its 1994 release.
It’s been reported that Mariah Carey even makes £239.70 every hour from the song.
Absolutely eye-watering amounts.
Carey has previously told Billboard that she had ‘no idea’ the impact the song would ‘eventually have worldwide’.
“How could I? It was so early on in my career and most young artists, at that time, weren’t really making Christmas music at the onset of their careers,” she added.
The song currently sits at the number ten spot on the Official Charts, with a strong likelihood of climbing as we approach Christmas Day.
