Hollywood star revealed as first of Justin Roiland's voice replacements

Roiland was removed from all his Rick & Morty roles following domestic violence charges

The first replacement for one of Justin Roiland’s roles has been revealed.

In January this year, Justin Roiland was dropped from two major shows that he co-created and voiced major characters in; Rick and Morty and Solar Opposites.

This was following the news that Roiland had been charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit.

Those charges were later dismissed by a California District Attorney due to lack of evidence, but further reports came to light, including one by The Hollywood Reporter which detailed years of his allegedly troubling behaviour.

While the voice cast for Rick and Morty remains unclear going forward, Disney and Hulu have revealed who will be replacing Roiland in the role of Korvo in their hit show Solar Opposites. Take a look at the brand new clip here and see if you can figure out who it is:

Yep, that is Dan Stevens, star of Downton Abbey, The Guest, and he played Beast in the live-action version of Beauty & The Beast.

The clip reveals that a sci-fi gadget used incorrectly is the cause for Korvo’s sudden voice and accent change, and everyone within the show just accepts the change without too many questions.

All 11 episodes of the fourth season of Solar Opposites are due to arrive in the States this August, so we should expect to get them on Disney+ pretty soon after that, with a fifth season already picked up by Disney/Hulu.

Whilst a replacement for Roiland’s roles as the titular characters in Rick and Morty has yet to be announced, Cartoon Network president Michael Ouweleen and executive producer Steve Levy recently confirmed that the show was officially searching for a new voice actor.

Speaking at France’s Annecy International Festival they said they don’t believe “anyone will bat an eyelid hearing the new voices.”
