The US broadcaster have sent 'take down' notices to Twitter's live-streaming app Periscope after viewers used the service to share the first episode of the much-anticipated fifth series on Sunday.
An HBO statement said: 'In general, we feel developers should have tools which proactively prevent mass copyright infringement from occurring on their apps and not be solely reliant upon notifications.'
HBO are also dealing with online leaks of four episodes which they believe came from a group who were sent preview DVDs.
The first four episodes have been illegally downloaded more than seven million times, according to piracy specialist Irdeto. Although if you've watched them already, you now have weeks to wait for your next fresh hit...
