This Harry Potter theory will change how you see The Goblet of Fire

The return of Lord Voldemort.

If you haven't read the Harry Potter books or seen the movies, then this post will contain spoilers. Seven books, eight movies and Harry Potter still stubbornly refuses to accept death as his fate, well except for one moment but it was all for a good reason. The Goblet of Fire is the fourth book in the Harry Potter series and the most action-filled one up to that point...but that would change as more books were released. Harry spends his year training for the Triwizard Tournament sporting a crop of hair that he'll surely look back on with regret in years to come. It's best known for one of the later scenes where the Portkey transports him to the graveyard where Voldemort is eventually resurrected/reborn/comes back, and Cedric Diggory dies.

But Tumblr user Miraniel has noticed that something was a little off about the behaviour of the portkey in this scene. Yes, it acts quite strangely in this scene.

Miraniel writes:

In all other cases except the Triwizard cup, portkeys only go one way at one specific time. Touching them again does not activate them to return to their place of origin. Also, when Harry grabs the cup a second time, it does not return him to the middle of the maze. It takes him to the entrance of the maze, in front of everyone.

Miraniel's theory states that Barty Crouch Jr enchanted the cup to allow it to return, so that when Harry was (supposed to be) dead, someone could come back in Harry's place and be close to Dumbledore, eventually killing him. It states that the person sent back could use Polyjuice Potion to imitate Harry, and as we mentioned earlier, he has plenty of hair if they wanted to take it from him (dead or alive). If Voldemort himself went back he could eliminate Dumbledore and by default become a master of the Elder Wand, without realising it of course. In probably the darkest part of the theory, Miraniel suggests that Voldemort could stay as Harry to convince people that the Boy Who Lived had turned into a dark wizard himself. Although we're skeptical about this, Voldemort would never have wanted anyone to think there was a more powerful dark wizard than him. But thankfully, this happened and the whole theory/plan came to nought.
