Guy Ritchie’s new war movie looks like it’ll be a very emotional watch

It is the Lock, Stock and Snatch director's first war movie.

British director Guy Ritchie currently has two movies set for release in 2023. One is a spy action comedy called Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre starring Aubrey Plaza and Jason Statham, which does not have a UK and Ireland release date as of yet. And the other is The Covenant, a war action-thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal that just released a first trailer. In the movie, Gyllenhaal plays Sergeant John Kinley, a soldier on his last tour of duty in Afghanistan when he is teamed with a local interpreter named Ahmed (Dar Salim, Exodus: Gods and Kings) to survey the region. When their unit is ambushed on patrol, Kinley and Ahmed are the only survivors and with enemy combatants in pursuit, Ahmed risks his own life to carry an injured Kinley across miles of grueling terrain to safety. "Back on US soil, Kinley learns that Ahmed and his family were not given passage to America as promised," the plot synopsis reads. "Determined to protect his friend and repay his debt, Kinley returns to the war zone to retrieve Ahmed and his family before the local militias reach them first." Co-written by Guy Ritchie, The Covenant will also feature among its cast Alexander Ludwig (Bad Boys for Life), Antony Starr (The Boys), Emily Beecham (1889) and Jason Wong (The Gentlemen). It is set for a cinema release in the US on 21 April before arriving in the UK and Ireland on Amazon Prime Video at a later date. You can watch the emotional trailer for the movie below. Star Trek: Picard Season 3

Moving onto TV, Star Trek: Picard will return with its third and final season on Prime Video in Ireland sometime after its US release on 16 February.

The Power

Sticking with Prime Video, this sci-fi drama set in a world where teenage girls are suddenly able to generate electricity at will is set to arrive on the streaming service on 31 March. Related links:
