He has been sentenced to 29 months in prison

Former Gogglebox star Andrew Bennett has been jailed for a sex attack on a teenage boy.

The 47-year-old featured on the 12th series of the hit Channel 4 show.

The court heard that he had cornered the victim at a house and subjected him to an attack that left him suffering from flashbacks.

Bennett took “selfies” with the boy before cornering him on a sofa and shovings his hands down his pants and giving him a hickey.

He then tried to lure the boy to bed with him.

Bennett admitted one charge of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and two of sexual activity with a child after DNA connected him to the teenage boy.

He had initially claimed his behaviour was due to “slimming drugs,” the Mirror reports.

Bennett was sentenced to 29 months in prison by Judge Tim Gittins, and will now have to sign the sex offenders register as well as abide by a sexual harm prevention order for a decade.

Judge Gittins told the sex offender: “You sought to blame slimming drugs for your behaviour. I acknowledge this was an aberration in your behaviour, it was unplanned and only occurred because you were intoxicated.”

The court heard that the former Goggleboxer had been drinking and asked the boy if he and his girlfriend had had sex.

He then put his hands down the boy’s pants and began kissing him.

Bennett continued even after the boy told him to stop, before eventually leaving the house “in tears” after refusing to follow Bennett to the bedroom.

The victim has been left with “flashbacks” and added: “I am trying to be positive and move on, however, I do think this will take some time.”
