Channel 4’s Gogglebox has been flooded with Ofcom complaints after viewers watched the show’s stars discuss a sex scene between a woman and a duck.
In an episode of Gogglebox that aired on April 22, viewers were treated to an instalment of Roar from Apple TV which is based on a feminist anthology series by author Cecelia Ahern.
In episode five, The Woman Who Was Fed By A Duck, protagonist Elisa (Merritt Wever) engages in a rollercoaster relationship with a duck called Larry who performs oral sex on her in one startling scene.
Gogglebox viewers did not miss the shocking imagery – and Ofcom subsequently received 149 complaints about the show. However weeks after the clip first aired, the regulation authority is still getting complaints.
“Complaints related to clips shown from Apple TV’s Roar,” a spokesperson confirmed with Metro. “This was also reported in our Audience Complaints report on 27 April. The total complaints number is 217.”

While Roar has been largely well-received, with Hollywood icon Nicole Kidman starring in one episode, Twitter is still reeling over the graphic sex scene.

“I’m traumatised by that,” wrote one Twitter user, while another exclaimed, “WHAT THE DUCK.”
Speaking to Radio Times in April, Wever, 41, spoke about the controversial scene and admitted to being nervous about the reception.
“People keep asking what I think of the episode, which makes sense because I worked on it and this is part of my job,” she said. “But the truth is I’m a lot more interested in what the people who watch it and experience what we made feel about it. And I’m nervous about it, honestly. I’m nervous to hear how it is received. I’m scared.”
