Gascoigne the film – “I am Gazza: what you see is what you get”

Paul Gascoigne worries about English football today - he doesn't believe English kids get a fair chance.

Once hailed as England's most natural footballer, Gazza says: "I'm not a big fan of the Premier League. Too many foreign players, and look at the national team because of it. "The English kids aren't getting a chance. The FA says it will do something about it, but it isn't." Years of tears and tantrums, the 48-year-old has endured as many lows as he has highs, but a new film titled Gascoigne celebrates his life and career. It chronicles everything from his early days at Newcastle and Tottenham to the watershed moment in the 1990 World Cup semi-final against Germany and on to his time at Lazio and Rangers. Speaking about the movie, the Geordie hero said: "I'm a national treasure. I get biddies coming up to me checking I'm OK." Despite experiencing a plethora of tragedy and sadness, Gazza said he "isn't sure what he would change" apart from telling his 18-year-old self to "look after his finances a bit better."
