First look at Nicholas Hoult as the Patrick Bateman of the music industry in Kill Your Friends

"Welcome to the music industry"

“Imagine you’re standing on wafer-thin ice. Beneath your feet you can see sharks circling. These are your colleagues. Your friends.” says Steven Stelfox, played by Nicholas Hoult.

The first trailer for Kill Your Friends, the film adaptation of the cult novel by John Niven, has been released and looks as thrilling and offbeat as anyone who has read the book hopes.

Set to a Britpop-era soundtrack of Oasis, Blur, The Verve, Supergrass and Chemical Brothers, Hoult stars as A&R man Stelfox, who goes beyond the job to reach the darkest crevices of life.

The film is sold as a “dark, satirical and hysterically funny evisceration of the Nineties music business, a time and place populated by frauds, charlatans and bluffer, where ambition is a higher currency than talent, and where it seems anything can be achieved – as long as you want it badly enough.”

Also starring James Corden, Rosanna Arquette, and Craig Roberts, Kill Your Friends will make its debut at this year’s Toronto Film Festival and be out in UK cinemas November 6.
