First Dates TV star Merlin Griffiths has updated fans with the latest progression on his battle with cancer. The barman on the hit Channel 4 programme revealed on Monday that he has had his stoma removed after nine months during a five-night stay in hospital. A stoma is an opening which is made on the abdomen during surgery, to divert waste out of the body and into a colostomy bag. Griffiths was first diagnosed with bowel cancer in September and has since been undergoing radiotherapy as part of his treatment on the road to recovery. Sharing a photo of him in his hospital dressing gown to his Twitter followers, the 47-year-old said: "Gosh, it's very odd knowing all my insides are actually inside me again after 9 months of a #stoma.
