A few months ago, our excitement levels were raised when Netflix announced that they were making a film about Bonnie and Clyde.
Granted, the infamous duo will always live in notoriety but for us, the main draw was the fact that Kevin Costner was returning to a role that sounded eerily familiar to the one he played in Brian De Palma's beloved gangster drama, The Untouchables.
A man that's driven by taking down an outlaw. Check.
A lawless time in US history. Check.
A stellar supporting cast. Check.
In many ways, Costner's character in
The Highwaymen does feel like a spiritual follow-up to his role as Elliot Ness and after seeing the first trailer, we're even more intrigued. .

Having seen the trailer, we got strong vibes of The Untouchables, Hell or High Water, and Lawless. Aside from this, it's practically impossible to Woody Harrelson in a cop film and not think about his superb performance in True Detective.
The outlaws made headlines. The lawmen made history.

Netflix on 29 March.
